Case Study / 02 / Mobile App · Fintech MVP

Ledger-grade fintech
from idea to TestFlight.

A founder with a regulated surface and a broad roadmap. We cut the product to one provable loop (onboard, fund, send, reconcile) and shipped it to TestFlight with every step instrumented.

/ 02 — The situation

Money-movement MVP in under 6 weeks

The roadmap covered everything a finance app could eventually do. The problem: nothing was in users’ hands, and the runway clock was running.

Money movement means audit trails, edge cases and trust — the riskiest surface to learn on. It needed to be small and real, not a polished demo.

What we did
  • —Scoped the product to one sentence: a user can onboard, fund a wallet, send money and reconcile it. Everything else became deliberately-later or explicitly-never.
  • —Built the ledger with audit trails from day one — the part that can’t be bolted on later.
  • —Shipped to TestFlight with analytics on every step of the loop, so observed behaviour — not opinion — drove the next cut.
  • —Kept KYC and payment rails behind clean seams, so regulated providers can be swapped without a rebuild.
How it ran

Four moves, no drift.

/ 01

Scoping

The loop written as one sentence. Must-ship, deliberately-later and explicitly-never, agreed before code.

/ 02

Prototype

Clickable on the founder’s phone in week one — flows, edge cases and copy skeleton reacted to while they’re cheap to change.

/ 03

Build the loop

One codebase, native feel. Ledger, auth and payments instrumented from day one — measurement is not phase two.

/ 04

TestFlight + read

Real users, real devices, crash reporting. We iterate on the loop completing, not on screenshots.

What changed
  • Time to real users

The provable loop in hands in under 6 weeks — instead of a quarter spent scoping the whole roadmap.

  • Scope discipline

Every feature had to pay rent against the one sentence. The roadmap stayed big; the first release stayed small.

  • Evidence for the raise

Instrumented behaviour on every step — a story investors can read, not slides they have to trust.
